Gotanda Denshi Organizes the Sumo World Tour in Indonesia

– Organize the First Sumo Tour within ASEAN region, in Jakarta, Capitol of Indonesia –
– For the Friendship between Japan and ASEAN through Sumo –

Gotanda Denshi Co., Ltd. (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo Japan, CEO : Takuji Yoshida, hereinafter called Gotanda Denshi) and Nihon Sumo Kyokai (Sumida-ku, Tokyo Japan, Chair person : Toshimitsu Kitanoumi) have agreed to hold a world tour on August 2013 in Jakarta, Indonesia, first in five years since the last one. And the contract is formed between us.

The year 2013, in which tour is going to take place, is the 40th anniversary of friendship exchange and cooperation between Japan and ASEAN diplomacy and as well the 55th anniversary of Japan and Indonesia diplomatic relation. This Sumo tournament is officially certified as 40th year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation by Japanese Foreign Ministry and Nihon Sumo Kyokai and Gotanda Denshi are aiming to build stronger diplomatic relationship between two country and ASEAN Countries by presenting the Sumo to the people of Indonesia as the Japanese traditional culture.

We have TOYOTA MOTOR ASIA PACIFIC PTE LTD as the main sponsor; this company is the affiliate of the Toyota Motor Corporation.

For Japan Sumo Association, this is the first world tour since the Mongol Tour in August 2008 held in five years ago. This world tour is the very first to take place in the ASEAN and the first in Muslim World. It would be commemorable in history.
