Indonesian Fashion And Batik Festival 2013 In Zurich

Aiming to bring Indonesia’s fashion and talented Indonesian designers to the international stage, an Indonesian designer, Aji Bräm initiates an Indonesian Fashion and Batik Festival in Zurich. This event will present Ready to Wear and Haute Couture of Indonesia’s fashion in September 2013 in Volkshaus, Zurich. Apart from showcasing the designs of talented Indonesian designers, this anticipated event surely will unveil the beauty and uniqueness of Indonesia’s fashion and textiles in Switzerland.

The man behind the idea of bringing Indonesian Fashion and Batik Festival to Zurich is Aji Bräm. He is an-hotelier-turned-to-be-a fashion-designer that currently lives in Zurich. As an Indonesian designer, he wants to introduce Indonesia’s fashion products and textiles, including Batik, to Switzerland and Europe. Aji believes that by presenting fabulous design of Indonesia’s fashion and textiles in Switzerland may open a door of opportunity for Indonesia’s fashion industry. He wishes that by exposing the country’s potential through fashion, it might correlate with the increase of Indonesia’s fashion products export and more of job opportunities in Indonesia in the future.

Likewise, this event will also showcase 16 young and talented Indonesian designers who reside in Indonesia and Switzerland. Aji believes that Indonesian designers have great potentials to go international through their creative and innovative designs with the touch of local culture and values. Moreover, the diversity of Indonesia’s textiles heritage also give an added value to their designs. I want those young and talented Indonesian designers could grow and be well-known in Indonesia and International stage. Because when I saw them on Indonesia Fashion Week, their designs were so awesome. On the other hand, this event will also serve as a fundraising night. Aji explained that the profit of this event would be directed to finance the sewing course of underprivileged children in Indonesia.
