Liverpool to Play in Indonesia for the First Time

Liverpool FC have confirmed that the club will make history this year when they play their first ever match in Indonesia. The Reds will play a match against Indonesian XI on July 20th in Jakarta as part of the 2013 pre-season tour presented by main sponsor Standard Chartered.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said: “We know we have millions of Indonesian fans that follow us every season so it’s very exciting that we’ll be able to play a match on their home soil and show the supporters just how much they are valued by myself and the players.”

In the video below, club captain Steven Gerrard delivers a message to the millions of supporters in Indonesia. He told fans: “Hi, I’m Steven Gerrard, the captain of Liverpool, and I can’t wait to lead the team out over in Indonesia. Our supporters over there are very passionate and we can’t wait to get out there and meet them.”
