Indonesia Creative Products Week 2012: Indonesia Creative Power

Highlighting Indonesia’s abundant and varied resources and some of the country’s fresh creative minds, this November, the Metropolitan Capital Jakarta will radiate the nation’s creative spirit as the Indonesia Creative Product Week gets underway at the Epiwalk, Epicentrum, at Jalan Rasuna Said, Jakarta from 21st to 25th November 2012.

The five days’ event is intended to draw young creative minds from all over Indonesia to participate and play their part to become the “engine” of growth of Indonesia, both as state and nation. It is expected that the best creative minds of the country can present their breakthrough ideas and provide creative solutions for a better future.

This year marks the 6th edition of the Indonesia Creative Product Week since its first inception in 2007. The event is a collaborative effort among 17 cross sectoral government institutions involving: The Coordinating Ministry for Public Welfare, The Ministry for Tourism and Creative Economy, The Ministry of Trade, The Ministry for Small and Medium Businesses, The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, The Ministry of Research and Technology, The Ministry of Industry, The Ministry of Education and Culture, The Minsitry of Justice and Human Rights, The Ministry of Monetary, The Ministry of Home Affairs, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Ministry of State-Owned Businesses, The Ministry for National Development Planning, The Provincial Government of Jakarta, The National Handicraft Board of Indonesia, and The Chamber of Commerce for Trade and Industry.

The Indonesia Creative Product Week this year has chosen the theme “Indonesia Creative Power:  Young and Creative”. The event will display creative breakthroughs in architecture, designs, fashion, film, video, photography, crafts, music, information technology, digital interactive games, fine arts, publishing and print media, performing arts, advertising, research and development, cuisine, TV and Radio, and a whole lot more.

All of the creative sectors will be wrapped in 73 main activities which consist of 34 meetings and seminars, 10 shows/performances, 23 exhibitions and games, and 5 culinary programs. The event will also feature 292 booths and involve some 900 participants and various communities. The Indonesia Creative product Week is projected to attract over 75,000 attendees and some 10 million viewers on digital media.

The conventions will feature speakers from 8 countries, namely: Japan, South Korea, England, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Highlights of the meetings will revolve around the development of creative economy as approached from many aspects ranging from strategic policies, Advanced businesses and technical aspects, and efforts to conduct business matching activities.

Traditional and contemporary art performances will also be staged at the event. Among these are pop culture performances, special kids’ performances, Indonesian Indie (independent) band, and fashion development presentations which will highlight Indonesia’s Sarong as the next fashion trend. The event will also feature various game creators ranging from local to international game publishers from Japan.
